There was a time when we had the option not to consider the environmental impact we have.
There was a time when we had the option not to consider the environmental impact we have. But considering all the challenges that we are now facing regarding single us plastic pollution and the scarcity of resources, this is no longer an option. We all know by now there is No Planet B. Decision makers are trying to put in place policies in order to regulate landfill diversion, recycling and food waste, some of the most pressing problems we are now facing.
Romania is one of the countries which continuously failed to implement these policies and is ranking the highest in terms of waste ending up in the landfill. On the other hand, there wasn’t a solution on the Romanian market for all the organic waste (food) that goes to the landfill. The single use plastic, which most of the time carries this food, once used, became contaminated and couldn’t be recycled.
Prodplast wants to be part of the change. The company knows that it has a responsibility to society, to the environment and to future generations. That’s why our focus is to create a good practice model when it comes to taking care of this ecosystem.
Our products are made from plant-based materials –namely rapidly regenerating resources such as cornstarch. Compared to plastic products, which are derived from oil, the manufacturing process has a smaller environmental impact. Depending on the product category, carbon emissions can be between 30% and up to 75% lower.
Using an efficient and innovative technology, we are able to offer products that are both resistant and environmentally friendly. Our plant is based in Romania, close to Bucharest and includes state of the art machinery and equipment in order to deliver the best quality for the clients.
Made from plants
The bags are made of high-quality cornstarch granules. In the production process are not use any toxic substances and respects the EU legislation regarding compostability standards.
Biodegradable and compostable
The bags respect the EN 13432 standards and are certified compostable by TUV Austria, a renowned European institution. Once they’ve been used, the bags can be composted – some at home, some in industrial composting facilities. Because they’re effectively organic waste, they’re the only form of packaging that can be composted alongside food waste.
Environmentally friendly manufacturing
Compared to plastic products, which are derived from oil, the manufacturing process is way more environmentally friendly. Depending on the product category, carbon emissions can be 30% to 75% lower.
The company believes that these alternative solutions won’t fix the plastic problem overnight. It’s going to take time, but the good news is that there are more sustainable options than plastic and it will reduce the environment impact.
